My experience with Martial Arts dates back to 1967 beginning at the Hyde Park YMCA, Judo under Sensei Jackie Thomas. In 1967 I also began to study Shorei Goju Ryu Karate under Sensei John Norman, one of Master Jimmy Jones first Black Belts.

At Southside YMCA Master Preston Baker & Otis Baker were head instructors who were followed by Sensei David Jackson, Alvin Brown and Robert Seaberry. During this era the dojo was passed to me.
Throughout my tenure, I was honored to work alongside a dedicated group of instructors who enriched the KoNeko Dojo with their skill, discipline, and passion for teaching:
